Conley 30th at Worlds

Former Montgomery runner and Olympian Kim Conley placed 30th at the World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Conditions included snow, tight turns, and four foot high speed bumps. Complete Results Video of final 6 minutes, all Africans shown no Conley.

1984 vs today: Legend and Prodigy

As I reported before Julia “Stamps” Mallon would be competing today in the Napa Marathon. Julia won her age division and was the 4th fastest female of the 861 women, in 2:58:39. As good as that is I was more interested in what happened in the 5k race they held that day. Joan Benoit Samuelson is a household name in the running community. Blast from Past: 1979 SRJC XC

A former teammate of mine posted a photo on Facebook of the 1979 Santa Rosa Junior College Men’s cross country team. This was one of the great local teams for any sport made up of mostly locally grown talent. This group won the 1979 Northern California Community College Cross Country Championships at Crystal Springs in Belmont along with many other victories, including the league championships. Conley takes 2nd at USA X-Country Championships

Former Montgomery runner Kim Conley proved she is one of America’s elite distance runners taking 2nd at the USA Cross Country Championships in St. Louis today. The big pre-race favorite was Shalane Flanagan the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist at 10,000 meters and a five-time national cross country champion. Hall & Conley to go head to head

The 2013 USA Cross Country Championships will be held in St Louis, MO on Saturday February 2nd. The defending champion is former Montgomery high runner Sara “Bei” Hall. 2012 story of Hall’s win over Molly Huddle. Besides Hall this years field will include Sara’s former Viking teammate Kim Conley who was a 2012 Olympian at 5,000 meters.
