Rylee Bowen has been making big waves in the running world but the Bowen family is much bigger than just her. Alia Gray, Empire record 1:13:34

Former Maria Carrillo star Alia Gray recorded the Empires fasted ever Half Marathon in 1:13:34 at the Houston Marathon this morning. Gray finished in 9th with former Montgomery star Sara Hall in 11th at 1:13:38. Oldie but a goody

It was over 30 years ago but wow what a race. The event was the 1981 Runners World 5 miler in Los Altos CA. A couple of the Redwood Empire’s best runners ever, ran amazing times but were no where near the lead as a “world” class field ran times rarely ever seen. Still working on my Redwood Empire Track top 10 lists for all ages. Adult Empire Best Here is what I have so far on the Marathon but would like to hear of marks I am missing. To be eligible the person needs to have lived in Lake, Mendocino or Sonoma County for more than one year. I’d like some verification (link to results, press clipping, ect.) and info like shown below. Julia “Stamps” Mallon 2:45:36 Marathon

Julia “Stamps” Mallon finished as the 6th fastest American at the New York City Marathon today finishing in 2:45:36. Top American was Adriana Nelson in 13th at 2:35:05. Top Americans Although final finisher totals will not be known until tomorrow, the New York Road Runners reported that 50,740 runners started the race making it the largest marathon in history. Conley & Hall race in NY

In New York the day before the big marathon former teammates Kim Conley and Sara Hall competed in the NYRR Dash to the Finish Line 5K. A number of Olympians were in the race. Conley came through the first mile with a pack of five in 4:55. USA’s Molly Huddle won the race in a new course record 15:27. Conley finished in 6th in 15:55 with Hall in 8th at 16:08. Story Results
