Benjamin Stern (Petaluma 2009 Alumni) won the Miwok 100k race this past Saturday, May 2nd. The race takes place in the Marin Headlands trails, covering 62.2 miles, with 11,800 feet of elevation gain. Ben ran it in 8 hours and 50 minutes. That averages out to 8:30 minutes per mile. At the Carlsbad 5k this year on March 29th, Daniel Skandera set the 5k road race world record for 7 year old boys on a certified course by 29 seconds. His time was 19:25 (6:15 pace). Sara Hall ran her first ever marathon in 2:48:02 for 22nd. She held the lead at one point and crossed the 20k mark in 1:12:26, a 5:46 mile pace, before losing contact with the leaders. Sara Hall led all women in the 2014 MetroPCS Half Marathon, cruising to her fourth half marathon victory in four months with a time of 1:12:26. It also surpassed her old Empire record. Story here .
