Nicole Lane and the UC Davis connection

El Molino’s Nicole Lane recently became the latest college recruit gold nugget mined by UC Davis out of the Redwood Empire. Lane has signed to run for Davis after graduating and the Redwood Empire has created some impressive runners for them in the past.     Lane was first team All-Empire her junior year in both track and cross country. Leanne Fogg qualifies for NCAA Finals

Former Maria Carrillo runner Leanne Fogg has qualified for the NCAA National Championships. Indiana State will host the Championships, Nov. 21, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind. Fogg’s Cal Poly teammate Meghan Breadmore was one of the other four individuals from the West Region to qualify on.   See all qualifiers here  

Fogg, Sumpter & Byers all top 50 at NCAA Regionals

NCAA Division 1 West Regional Cross Country Championships were held today at Stanford University. In the men’s 10k team battle it was all tied up between Stanford and Portland after their first four runners crossed the finish line. Stanford then won the team battle as former Novato high runner Erik Olson finished in 22nd overall in 29:57 to beat Portland’s fifth runner. Arizona’s Lawi Lalang won the race in 28:34. Sumpter leads Davis to 1st ever Big West Conference crown

With former Healdsburg High runner Sarah Sumpter leading her team with a second place finish UC Davis won there first ever Big West Conference crown. Sumpter a junior at Davis finished the 6,000 meter course in 20:33.7 just behind Long Beach Senior Rosa Del Toro in 20:27. In third place was former Maria Carrillo runner Leanne Fogg of Cal Poly who clocked 20:41.9. Alia Gray wins CCAA XC Championships

Maria Carrillo grad Alia Gray topped the field at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Cross Country Championships at Spring Lake Regional Park Saturday. The meet was hosted by Sonoma State University whose womens team finished 11th. Gray’s Chico State team easily turned back all challengers to their fourth straight conference crown. The Press Democrat has hosted my running web page since 2002 which you can see at www.northbay.com/running/ This blog is focused on high school cross country in the fall and high school track in the spring.
