Her two USA teammates also made the final in the other heat.
Kenya’s Mercy Cherono won the slow paced first heat in 15:34.70.
The field in the first heat crossed the first 800m in 3:08.
American Molly Huddle lead the field through the first 1,000m in 3:43.62 before finishing in 3rd in 15:40.91. Teammate Shannon Rowbury was next across the line in 15:50.41.
Conley’s heat was much faster as the pack was lead at 1,000m in 3:09.23.
Conley lead the field at 4,000m in 12:34.20 before finishing in 5th at 15:27.35.
Ethiopia’s Meseret Defar won the heat in 15:22.94.
