Due to very smokey conditions from the “Scotts Fire”, the 2012 Cougar Classic was cancelled.

On the women’s side, Taylor Falk (Freshmen from Casa Grande High School) finished 44th with a time of 20:57, marking her return to cross country after a two year hiatus since her accident (hit by car during Casa Grande Practice). Ali Van Zandt (Sophomore from Rincon Valley Christian) finished one place behind Taylor with a time of 21:04.

Marina Lecoeuche (Freshmen from SRHS): 95th, 22:41
Michelle Kelley (Sophomore from RVC): 108th, 23:27
Overall we finished 12th out of 17 teams and 5th North team to finish (top seven from at the NORCAL meet qualify for State). Kelly Birkland (Freshmen from MCHS) did not run due to an injury but typically finishes 2nd or 3rd on our team.
On the men’s side, Zekaryas Mebrahtu (Freshmen from Piner) finished 41st with a time of 22:17. His former teammates Luis Luna and Epi Nunez were in the race, but running for American River College. Luna finished first with a time of 20:47, while Epi finished 87th with a time of 23:15. Zek’s goal before the race was to try to beat his friend and rival, Epi.

Overall we finished 18th out of 20 teams and the 8th team in the North (20 points behind the 7th team from the North). Jose Mendoza (Freshmen from Montgomery) and Alex Mendoza (Sophomore from Piner) did not race due to injury. Jose is typically our 3rd runner and Alex is typically our 5th/6th runner.
