Wouldn’t it be fun to listen in on the conversation’s going on in Annadel.

From time to time Julia Stamps Mallon, Nika Horn Bowen and her two daughters Rylee and Kate go on runs together in the Park.
Nika was a distance running star of the late 80’s and early 90’s and held the Spring Lake course record until Julia came along.
Anyone following current season knows that Rylee is the current top dog around here while 7th grader Kate is already taking on college kids.

This weekend saw both the youngsters putting together marks that no one could beat at that age, well except for maybe their running partners.

For Rylee’s weekend she ran the mile in 4:54.96 at Mt Sac, fastest freshman time in the state this year, =1600 4:53.49, 2nd All-Time freshman locally to the 4:49.21 1600 of Montgomery’s Sara Bei 1998, with Julia’s freshman mark being 4:54.42 and then Rylee ran the 800 in 2:13.66, 2nd All-Time freshman to the 2:13.46 of Maria Carrillo’s Jenny Aldridge 1999, with Julia’s freshman mark being 2:14.54.
Rylee has also logged a 10:29.61 in the 3200 so far this year with only Julia’s 10:26.51 better as a freshman.

Meanwhile sister Kate was competing in a college meet in Hayward. Kate this season broke Rylee’s 7th grade course record at the Viking Opener cross country meet and as I understand it is just coming back now from a broken foot.
At the Chabot College meet with such schools as Chico State and include local schools Sonoma State and the Santa Rosa JC, Kate won the second heat of the 1500m in 4:55.31 with only 8 college runners in the fast heat bettering her time.
