The 2014 year kicked off for Sonoma County runners with a 5k, the Phaby-Gray Resolution Run.

Leading the way was former Santa Rosa high star Reesey Byers, the Empires first HS sub 9 minute 3200m runner, 8:59.89 2010. Following him was another SRHS star, Cristian Nazarek, who recently was the leading runner at the SRJC.
In third was current high school star Matt Salazar from Casa Grande. Salazar was the first of six runners in the top 15 who are from 12 to 16 years old. Shinning brightest was 14 year old Rylee Bowen who was the first female finisher in 12th overall out of the more than 350 runners. She below for how fast her 5k was.

Of the 10 high school girls who have broken 18 minutes on a 5k course, one became an Olympian at the 5k distance, Conley, another was only an NCS Champion, Blanchard, and the other 8 were all State champions in either track or cross country.
