Montgomery track began in 1959 with Bob Acquistapace coaching the team to five NBL titles finishing in 1967 with a second place finish at State. Don Moran was the head coach from 1970-74 winning two NBL titles with football coach Jason Franci as an assistant. Gary Warner coached the winng 1975 squad. Mike Grace was head coach in 1977-1979 winning all three NBL titles. Larry Meredith coached the 1985 NBL champions. In 1986 I joined an awesome group of coaches as we had Matt and Deanne Malvino, Meredith and Paul Troppy all coaching together. In 1987 we coached the girls to their first ever NBL crown.
I was in full swing as a track nut by then and put together a 63 page book “Montgomery Track, The Complete History”. It included EVERYTHING about Viking track from 1959-1987, including the meet records for EVERY dual meet they had ever competed in. The stadium records were one of those pages which I have updated here.
