XC runners smarter than the rest?

NCS Scholastic Awards Recipients are out and a number of Redwood Empire teams showed they have the brains to go with those great legs. Cardinal Newman, Petaluma and Montgomery all had both their boys and girls teams honored by the NCS. I did some of my stat maniac work on the list and found that the NCS teachers found that cross country runners are smarter than those from other sports. See list below local winners. Rylee Bowen National Jr. Olympic Champion

USATF Jr. Olympic Cross Country Whispering Pines Golf Course, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina December 13, 2014 Rylee Bowen is the new National USATF Jr. Olympic Cross Country Champion winning the 15-16 year old Division in 17:40.7 for the 5k course. Her time also moves her to 7th All-Time for a 5k by a Redwood Empire preps and bumps Kim Conley out of the top 10. Foot Locker West

This is the qualifer for Foot Locker Nationals. Top 10 from seeded race move on to Nationals. That course is a 5k. Other courses may be shorter as in past years.
