In the history of Redwood Empire track a first took place last Saturday.
At the Big Cat Invitational Ursuline’s Michelle Stone vaulted 11-9ΒΌ which equaled the Prep Best for the boys.
Never before has the girls best been as good as the boys in any event since girls began competing back in 1976.

Jean Lightfoot, Maria Carrillo High School graduate 2006, now throwing at UC Santa Barbara recently at the Ben Brown Invitational at Cal State Fullerton, threw the Hammer 173-4 feet.

Former Montgomery runner Sara Hall qualified to represent Team USA at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships on March 28 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Hall finished in 6th in open women’s 8 km in 26:37. She held a 10:42.6 2 mile pace for the roughly 5 mile race.

Reesey Byers broke Armand Moreno’s 32 year old Redwood Empire record for the indoor 2 mile finishing 2nd in the unofficial State Indoor meet.

Michelle Stone of Ursuline and Reesey Byers of Santa Rosa are both seeded 2nd for the unoffical High School Indoor State Meet.

Three Empire vaulters traveled to Reno and competed in the huge indoor vault meet they hold there on Jan. 30th.
Ursuline’s Michelle Stone, a senior, went 10-2 in her flight.
Analy junior Brenna Thomas cleared 8-10.
Santa Rosa junior Rebecca McGillivary went 8-0.
