Redwood Empire High School Track and Cross Country

2014 Boys Cross Country Preview

Maria Carrillo has won 8 of last 11 NBL titles, including the last two, but with graduation hitting the Puma’s hard watch out for other teams to challenge for top spot in the Empire. With huge numbers you would be a fool to count Carrillo out this year however. Casa Grande could have one of the best one-two combo’s in the North Coast Section. Gaucho junior Matt Salazar was the only non-senior to make First team All-Empire last year and… Read More »

Another Skandera world record

Daniel Skandera, photo by Doug Murdoch

Last year, as a five year old, Daniel Skandera broke the age group record in the mile. A little over a week ago, August 5th, as a six year old, he not only broke the record for a six year old in the mile but his time was even faster than the world record for a 7 year old. Before crossing the finish line in the mile he was officially timed at the 1500 meter mark and his time there… Read More »

Robin Williams the runner

(photo: Ancestry.com)

Just another tid bit I found about Robin Williams. Robin was a track star at Redwood High back in 1969. He competed for Redwood under the coaching of former SRJC coach Gary Shaw. Robin ran the 880 yard run and was a member of the Mile Relay team. In the 1969 NCS division III finals, held at SRJC, Robin finished 2nd in the 880 in 1:59.4 to a teammate and ran a leg on the second place relay team (3:22.4)… Read More »
